Biography

Carolyn Hoyt has worked in the advancement profession for more than 30 years, holding roles across the Development and Alumni Relations spectrum.  She came to Pitt in 2019 to serve as Vice Chancellor of Advancement Operations and to oversee the database migration to Salesforce. In her current role as Vice Chancellor of Advancement Operations and Chief PAE Strategy Officer, Carolyn oversees a team of approximately 60 people who together provide all internal operations for PAE including HR, Budget, Facilities, Prospect Development, Technology, Records Management, Gift Administration, and Policy Development.

Before joining Pitt, Carolyn worked at the Oregon Health and Science University Foundation for seven years, serving as VP of Development Operations and Services from 2017-2019.  As VP, she had oversight of Annual Giving, Gift Administration, IT and Business Intelligence, Research and Prospect Management, Communications, Donor Engagement and Board Relations.  Carolyn’s role focused on leveraging all of the operational units to carry out the fundraising mission.  Prior to joining the OHSU Foundation, Carolyn led Advancement Services at Willamette University in Salem, OR, where she was also responsible for raising leadership gifts.  She began her advancement career at her alma mater, Bucknell University, where she worked for 14 years in Alumni Relations, Annual Giving, Stewardship, Prospect Research and Advancement Services. Carolyn holds a BS in Education from Bucknell and an MPPM from Pitt.
