Biography
Doug became the Vice Chancellor for Individual Giving, Schools and Centers in the Division of Philanthropic and Alumni Engagement (PAE) in November of 2019. In this role he is a member of the senior leadership team for PAE and leads annual, major and planned giving for the Provost-area schools, centers and priorities.
Prior to Pitt, Doug was at the University of Pennsylvania for 16 years serving in a variety of roles, starting as a senior major gifts officer for Penn Arts and Sciences in 2002 and then director of major gifts in Penn’s central development office from 2008 to 2012. He subsequently led major gift fundraising for Arts and Sciences as Executive Director for Advancement from 2015 until 2019, and managed international fund raising for Penn Arts and Sciences in western Europe and Latin America.
Doug’s entire career spans 25 years, including development positions at Ohio University and DePaul University. He earned a B.A. in History at the College of Wooster; an M.A. in History and an M.A. in International Relations at Ohio University (where he was a Fulbright Research Scholar); and an M.S. in Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
