Lila Rose has spent eight years at the University of Pittsburgh doing the work that makes big things possible — building strategy, aligning people and ensuring that ambition translates into action. As chief administrative strategist for External Relations, she provides senior leadership across business and finance, human resources, space planning, executive communications and executive project management in the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor. Working closely with Senior Vice Chancellor Kevin Washo, Rose helps to position the division for its next chapter, including the launch of the University’s comprehensive fundraising campaign.
She came to her current role by way of the Office of the Chancellor, where she served as deputy chief of staff under two chancellors — experience that gave her deep institutional fluency and relationships across every corner of Pitt’s senior leadership. Rose’s work has consistently spanned strategic communications, organizational planning, and cross-functional coordination across some of the University’s most visible offices.
Prior to Pitt, she worked in political, government and civic sectors. Rose is active in the Pittsburgh community through the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Women United and previously served on the board of directors of the Junior League of Pittsburgh. She holds master’s degrees in management and international business from the University of Florida and a bachelor’s degree in international affairs with a business emphasis from Florida State University.
Rose lives in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood with her husband and son, both named Chet.
